Privacy policy

Cedar is designed to keep your allergy log on your iPhone and collect as little information as possible.

Information stored on your device

Cedar stores the information you enter—such as your ZIP code, symptom preferences, daily symptom scores, medication-taken indicators, reminder settings, and check-in history—locally on your device. Cedar also caches modeled environmental data and analysis results locally. Cedar does not require an account and does not provide cloud sync.

Environmental-data requests

To retrieve modeled environmental information, Cedar sends your five-digit US ZIP code and request parameters to Cedar's environmental-data service. The service uses Google services to convert the ZIP code to an approximate location and retrieve pollen information. It uses Cloudflare for hosting, security, and short-term caching.

The Cedar service is designed not to write ZIP codes or coordinates to application logs. Cache identifiers are hashed. Cloudflare and Google may process network information, including IP addresses and request metadata, under their own policies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.

Notifications and sharing

If you allow notifications, Cedar schedules a daily reminder through iOS. You can deny or later disable notification access in iOS Settings. If you choose to share a clinician summary, Cedar creates the summary on your device and opens the iOS share sheet. Cedar does not control or receive the destination you select.

Analytics, advertising, and sale of data

Cedar does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or behavioral analytics, and does not sell your personal or health information. If privacy-preserving crash reporting is added later, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before that version is released.

Retention and deletion

Your Cedar log remains on your device until you use Delete all local data in Cedar or remove the app. Deleting local data also cancels Cedar's scheduled reminder. Environmental responses may be cached for a limited period to improve reliability and reduce provider requests.

Children

Cedar is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Medical information

Cedar is a self-tracking tool, not a medical device or medical service. It does not diagnose allergies or provide treatment advice. Do not use Cedar for emergencies.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. The policy applicable to a release will remain publicly accessible.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be submitted using the TestFlight steps on Cedar Support. Do not include symptoms, medications, ZIP codes, or other sensitive information in feedback.
